Biophotonics: Optical Biosensing, Medical Lasers, and Biomedical Optical Imaging

Call for Papers

Biophotonics become a growing field of fundamental research and important tools for diagnostics and treatment of various diseases. Optical diagnostic techniques such as intravital microscopy, endoscopy, and spectroscopy are standard and promising approaches to image the external and internal organs in vivo. Lasers are extensively used in a variety of clinical applications, including surgery, urology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cardiology. Optical imaging techniques also offer advantages for developing medical devices for diagnosis at the point of care toward rapid and accurate diagnosis. The aim of the special issue is to highlight the recent advances in cutting-edge development in medical lasers, optical biomedical imaging techniques, new biosensors and biomarkers for point-of-care, diagnostics therapeutic methods, and their clinical practice.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Optical biosensors, biomarkers, point-of-care diagnostics, and protein/DNA detection
  • Laser tissue interaction, laser ablation, and photo-coagulation
  • Biophotonics and optical methods in biology and medicine
  • Lasers for medical applications, femtosecond laser, and nanosecond laser
  • Nonlinear microscopy, coherence Raman scattering microscopy
  • Spectroscopy system and applications
  • Optical coherence tomography, diffusive optics, and multimodality imaging
  • Endoscopy
  • Fluorescence imaging
  • Photodynamic therapy
