UV Filtering of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells: The Effects of Varying the UV Cut-Off upon Cell Performance and Incident Photon-to-Electron Conversion Efficiency

The IPCE spectra of a cell made with N719 dye and measured in both forward (FWD) and reverse (REV) illumination. The UV-Vis % curve of a model cell is also shown. The model cell consists of a platinised counter electrode (TCO glass), the electrolyte and ordinary soda-lime glass in place of the working electrode. The model cell simulates the filtering caused by the counter electrode and electrolyte when a DSC device is operated in reverse illumination.
