Relationship between aggregation of 3 and its accumulation in a cell. The aggregation behaviors of 3 were classified into following three types: (a) 3b–3d which did not form aggregates at any concentration, (b) 3e–3h which formed aggregates at a concentration higher than 10 or 20 μM, and (c) 3i-3j which form aggregation at any concentration <1 mM. The ship-in-a-bottle effect appeared in the case of (b).
