Organometallic Perovskites Semiconductors for Light-Based Technologies

Call for Papers

Solution processed organometallic perovskites, such as CH3NH3PbI3, have recently drawn a lot of attention as a forerunner in photovoltaic technology. The record power conversion efficiency (PCE) has steeply increased to 24.2% in 10 years, approaching to that of conventional silicon-based photovoltaics. Furthermore, excellent optoelectronic properties, low-cost, and the capability for large-scale manufacture make organometallic perovskite materials promising for future photoenergy technologies.

Despite the rapid advances in perovskite solar cells, (1) interlayer materials and surface engineering should be developed to progressively close the gap between practical and theoretical efficiencies; (2) organometallic perovskite degradation mechanisms are not well-investigated, and new materials and/or fabrication technologies should be applied to enhance the intrinsic stability of perovskite materials; (3) finally, organometallic perovskite materials are also showing promising potentials in other optoelectronic technologies, such as light-emitting diodes (LED), detectors, and lasing devices.

To make these light-based technologies successful, an interdisciplinary group of scientists from all over the world with diverse backgrounds are required to contribute to this hot field. This special issue will provide a forum to disseminate new developments of optoelectronics based on organometallic perovskites and associated materials.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Interface and composition engineering for highly efficient and stable organometallic perovskite solar cells
  • Low-dimensional organometallic perovskite materials for light emitting
  • LED, detector, laser, and other novel applications based on organometallic perovskite materials
