Translation of the rabbit Hb-𝛽 subunit coding sequence. Rabbit epididymal antimicrobial protein (REAMP), a 15 mer sequence (indicated in straight line) having antibacterial activity. This sequence corresponds to the amino acids 110–124 of Hb-𝛽 subunit (blue underline). Two 29 mer peptide sequences of rabbit epididymal Hb-𝛽 subunit REHb𝛽P corresponding to the amino acids 104–133 (indicated in dotted line) and nREHb𝛽P corresponding to the amino acids 13–41 (indicated in asterisks) of Hb-𝛽 subunit were synthesized. The nREHb𝛽P has been considered as scrambled or control peptide.
