Inorganic/Organic Hybrid Polymers: Overview and Applications

Call for Papers

An emerging trend in nanotechnology and advanced materials is the design of functionalized polymer materials, providing an intriguing approach for catering advanced materials. The combination of functional properties and inorganic nanoparticles (e.g., thermal, electric, magnetic, and optical properties) has driven a striking development of a wide range of multifunctional polymers. These materials could further have one or more properties that can be significantly enhanced because of synergistic effect. A basic understanding of the mechanism and recent progress in production strategies have enabled the engineering of multidirectional functionally polymer materials such as functionalized polymers, suprarmolecular systems, biomimetic polymer materials, hybrid-type composite materials, information- and energy-transfer materials, and environmentally friendly materials, at nanolevels.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the technologies, optimizing existing approaches for the preparation of stimuli-responsive advanced polymer materials with new functions and applications. We are particularly interested in articles detailing the facile, new, and exciting techniques for constructing smart inorganic/organic hybrid polymer materials.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Mechanism for the formation of functionalized materials
  • Recent developments in thermosensitive polymer materials
  • Synthetic methods for magnetic-sensitive polymer materials
  • Latest advances in pH-sensitive polymers
  • Preparation and characterization of new smart polymers
  • Facile techniques for the construction of healable materials
  • Bioinspired multiscale polymer materials
  • Recent developments in on/off-switchable nanoreactors
