A new notion of the <mml:math alttext="$A$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>A</mml:mi></mml:math>-monotonicity is introduced, which generalizes the <mml:math alttext="$H$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>H</mml:mi></mml:math>-monotonicity. Since the <mml:math alttext="$A$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>A</mml:mi></mml:math>-monotonicity originates from hemivariational inequalities, and hemivariational inequalities are connected with nonconvex energy functions, it turns out to be a useful tool proving the existence of solutions of nonconvex constrained problems as well.
