Confocal microscope images of explanted scaffolds at 6 months. (a) Cross-linked and (b) AuNP scaffolds show evidence of integration with scaffold bundles appearing to break apart slightly as host tissue infiltrates scaffold fibers. Laser power and imaging parameters were the same for both images.
