Cell surface disrupting agents. (a) Control plate; (b) 12.5 μg/mL calcofluor white; (c) 0.0225% SDS; (d) 50 μg/mL Congo red. Strains were grown in PDB, then diluted (105 to 102 cells/mL), and spotted on PDA plates containing different concentrations of cell surface disrupting agents. A slight increase in susceptibility to SDS and calcofluor white was observed.
