Views along the 𝑦 , 𝑦 β€² axes (a) and 𝑧 , 𝑧 β€² axes (b) of reference systems 𝑆 and 𝑆 β€² , which have parallel axes, that are fixed relative to the distant stars. The origin of 𝑆 is at earth's center, and the origins of 𝑆 β€² and 𝑆 ξ…ž ξ…ž are at the pendulum suspension point. The local lab system 𝑆 ξ…ž ξ…ž has the 𝑧 ξ…ž ξ…ž axis vertical, the π‘₯ ξ…ž ξ…ž axis southward, and the 𝑦 ξ…ž ξ…ž axis eastward.
