Active Object Recognition with a Space-Variant Retina

A cartoon schematic of our space-variant visual feature model. The model samples a region of the image in a space-variant manner, and this representation is fed into a bank of ICA filters. A learned activation nonlinearity modulates the activity of the filters. Finally the filters are subdivided into multiple channels, which project to an object recognition model.
