Robotic-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy after the First Decade: Surgical Evolution or New Paradigm
Analgesics: ketorolac 15 to 30 mg every 8 hours. Patients are strongly | encouraged to avoid narcotics on discharge, and nearly all do well with standard analgesics | such as aspirin and ibuprofen. | Nutrition: liquids the day of surgery and select diet thereafter. | Antithrombotic care: leg-squeezers until ambulatory. | Drain is optional. | Catheter removal: the catheter is removed at day seven. If there is need for bladder neck | Reconstruction, then perform a cystogram at day 7 and remove the catheter if appropriate. | Hospital stay averages one day. |
