Towards Understanding the Formation of Uniform Local Binary Patterns

Figure 11

Average intensity patch of the 12 most common intermediate root permutations in (8, 2) neighborhood (with interpolation) using all of the selected Outex test images. The first rank from the left corresponds to the Eastern direction, and the following ranks are formed to the counterclockwise direction (North-East, North, etc.) It can be observed that the most common intermediate root permutations ( -tuples) seem to capture intensity patches corresponding to wood_012. The selected ( ) combination might be too sensitive to noise. See, for example, similar intensity patches related to permutations (4 2 1 3 5 7 8 6) and (4 2 1 3 5 6 8 7).
