Simplified diagram of the bifactor model (a), one factor model (b), and two factor model (c) for the 14-item Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). The general and group (stress and coping) factors are not correlated in the bifactor model. The general factor has loadings on all items. The bifactor, one factor, and two factor models for the 10-item PSS were constructed in a similar way except items 4, 5, 12, and 13 which are not in the 10-item form.
