Protective Nature of Mangiferin on Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Status in Tissues of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

Figure 5

Activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in liver and kidney of control and experimental groups of rats. Data were given as mean ± standard deviation for six animals in each group. One way ANOVA is followed by post hoc test LSD. Values are statistically significant at * . aDiabetic control rats were compared with control rats; bmangiferin treated diabetic rats were compared with diabetic control rats; cglibenclamide treated diabetic rats were compared with diabetic control rats. The enzyme activities are expressed as SOD: 50% inhibition of epinephrine autooxidation/min; CAT: μmoles of H2O2 decomposed/min/mg of protein; GPx: μmoles of glutathione oxidized/min/mg of protein.
