It is presented the FT-Raman spectroscopic investigation of the lead tartrate dihydrate and lead iodide dihydrate.The difference in the spectroscopic behavior of these salts were found which can be attributed to a different geometry of the tartrate and iodide ions. The structural differences between the coordination environments of lead atoms are discussed in connection with Raman frequencies. The compounds have been synthesized using sodium metasilicate gel at ordinary temperature and pressure.

An Introduction to Continuum Distorted Wave Theory

One of the goals in studies of double ionization (DI) of simple atoms by electron
or ion impact is to elucidate and assess the different mechanisms that lead to this
atomic process. In this work we present an attempt to model the mechanisms beyond
the first order in DI of helium by highly charged projectiles. To this end we
employ the continuum distorted wave-eikonal initial state (CDW-EIS) formalism
joint with a Monte Carlo event generator (MCEG). The MCEG allows us to generate
theoretical event files that represent the counterpart of the data obtained from
a kinematically complete experiment. Starting from these event files, a new data
analysis tool used to contrast theory and experiment in DI, the four-body Dalitz
plots, is easily produced. The higher order mechanisms are simulated by considering
DI as a sequential process: a single ionization of a helium atom as a first step and
another single ionization of a single-charged helium ion as a second step. Some of
the features in the experimental data are very well reproduced by these simulations.

Distorted Wave Theories Applied to Double Ionization by Ion Impact: Simulation of Higher-Order Processes

Single electron ionization of helium targets produced by the impact of
fast proton beams is investigated. The postversion of the continuum distorted wave-eikonal
initial state into a three-body approximation is reformulated, including the
dynamic screening produced by the nonionized electron. This dynamic screening is
shown to play a main role in the determination of double differential cross-sections. A
good agreement is found with predictions obtained employing the prior version of the
model, so that post-prior discrepancies are almost eliminated.

A Complete Postversion of the Three-Body Continuum Distorted Wave-Eikonal Initial State Approximation for Single Ionization of Multielectron Atoms

The distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) has been one of the most successful theoretical approaches for treating electron collisions with complicated atoms, and recently the DWBA has been successfully extended to treat electron-impact ionization of molecules. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of that development and to provide a summary of the recent experimental and theoretical works examining low to intermediate energy electron-impact single ionization of molecules.
