Patient Characteristics Can Influence the Incidence of Perioperative Microemboli during Carotid Artery Interventions

Schematic of the patient population that was included in the study data analysis. From June 2004 to December 2010 a total of 303 patients received a carotid intervention at our institution. Of these patients, 288 patients met study inclusion criteria. CEA was performed in 171 patients, and CAS was performed in the remaining 117 patients.
