Description
The systematic analysis of aircraft accidents and incidents (safety occurrences) is a key enabler for the enhancement of aviation safety. There is a fast growing body of research and practice in developing, validating, and implementing methodologies for the analysis of safety occurrences. This trend indicates not only the increasing emphasis on achieving continuous improvement in aviation safety performance, but also the need for smarter and more accurate analysis methodologies. The output of these analyses feeds into methodologies targeting and employed for accident prevention. Equally to analysis’ methodologies, the research efforts on improved prevention methodologies experience a fast-paced growth.
This special issue offers a publication venue for researchers and industry practitioners working on developing, validating, and implementing analysis and prevention methodologies for aviation safety occurrences. Its aim is to consolidate research developments and findings, by publishing both original research and comprehensive review papers.
