Mechanism of action of the enzyme TS on dUMP to produce the methylated dTMP leading to DNA generation and cell reproduction. 5-FU is converted into FdUMP in the human body followed by interaction with TS to form a covalent link leading to dysfunction of TS and stopping of DNA generation. As a result, replication and cell division are blocked.
