Description

It has been increasingly recognized that reactive oxygen species and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) play an important role in the pathophysiology of diverse diseases and aging. There is growing scientific agreement that antioxidants, particularly the polyphenolic forms, may help lower the incidence of disease, such as certain cancers, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, and DNA damage, or even have antiaging properties. The quest for healthy aging has led to the use of antioxidants as a means to disrupt age-associated deterioration in physiological function, dysregulated metabolic processes, or prevention of many age-related diseases.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles about medicinal chemistry of antioxidants, including antioxidants design, synthesis, pharmacological evaluation, and structure-activity relationships. We are particularly interested in articles describing the new antioxidants for their chemical characterization and biological activities for the basic research and clinical application, advances in relationship between chemical structure and function, new insights into safety assessment for antioxidants, and current concepts in the antioxidant network. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
