Linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) algorithm is proposed to realize accurate trajectory tracking for the lever-type electric erection system. By means of system identification and curve fitting, the approximate model is built, which is consisting of the servo drive system with velocity closed-loop and the lever-type erection mechanism. The proportional control law with velocity feedforward is designed to improve the trajectory tracking performance. The experimental results verify that, based on approximate model, LADRC has better tracking accuracy and stronger robustness to the disturbance caused by the change of intrinsic parameters compared with PI controller.

Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Lever-Type Electric Erection System Based on Approximate Model

Industry 4.0 promotes the development of traditional manufacturing industry to digitization, networking, and intellectualization. Smart factory is composed of network that includes production equipment, robot, conveyor, and logistics system. According to the characteristics of the mixed flow assembly, a simulation platform of automobile mixed flow assembly is built based on industry 4.0 in the paper, which operates and manages automobile assembly, logistics warehouse, and CPS effectively. On this basis, FlexSim software is adopted to establish the auto-mixed assembly model that finds out the bottleneck of auto-mixed assembly problem. By means of parameter adjustment, rearrangement, and merger of process, the whole assembly time of the 500 automobiles dropped by 33 hours, the equipment utilization rate increased by 20.19&#x25;, and the average blocked rate decreased by 21.19&#x25;. The optimized results show that the proposed model can greatly increase manufacturing efficiency and practical application in industry 4.0.

Modeling and Optimization for Automobile Mixed Assembly Line in Industry 4.0

This paper presents the first application of the hedge-algebra theory in the field of grid synchronization. For this purpose, an optimized hedge-algebra controller (HAC) is developed and incorporated within the three-phase phase-locked loop (PLL) with moving average filters (MAFs) inside its feedback loop. Optimized fuzziness parameters and linguistic rule base of the HAC are obtained by a genetic algorithm using the integral of absolute error as the performance index during optimization. Calculated optimal parameter values of the HAC depend on the most frequently occurring disturbance in the electric grid. Two different PLL structures are proposed, depending on the types of disturbances occurring in the electric grid. The first structure is the conventional synchronous reference frame PLL with the nonadaptive MAF (i.e., MAF without order adjustment), but with the PI/PID controller in the phase loop replaced by the developed HAC. Such PLL structure is suitable for all analyzed disturbance types, expect for step-changes in the grid frequency. The second PLL structure introduces the adaptive MAF (i.e., MAF with order adjustment) and a new feedback signal in the output stage of the controller to achieve zero steady-state error in the case of step-changes in the grid frequency. The disturbance rejection capability of the two developed PLLs with the HAC (HAC-PLLs) is tested separately and compared experimentally with the PID- and fuzzy-controller-based PLLs.

Improved Absolute Stability for a Class of Nonlinear Switched Delay Systems via Mode-Dependent Average Dwell Time

The paper presents a control approach to a flexible gantry crane system. From Hamilton&#x2019;s extended principle the equations of motion that characterized coupled transverse-transverse motions with varying rope length of the gantry is obtained. The equations of motion consist of a system of ordinary and partial differential equations. Lyapunov&#x2019;s direct method is used to derive the control located at the trolley end that can precisely position the gantry payload and minimize vibrations. The designed control is verified through extensive numerical simulations.

Vibration Suppression Control of a Flexible Gantry Crane System with Varying Rope Length

This paper proposes a MIMO Explicit Generalized Predictive Control (EGPC) for minimizing payload oscillation of a Gantry Crane System subject to input and output constraints. In order to control the crane system efficiently, the traditional GPC formulation, based on online Quadratic Programming (QP), is rewritten as a multiparametric quadratic programming problem (mp-QP). An explicit Piecewise Affine (PWA) control law is obtained and holds the same performance as online QP. To test effectiveness, the proposed method is compared with two GPC formulations: one that handle constraints (CGPC) and another that does not handle constraints (UGPC). Results show that both EGPC and CGPC have better performance, reducing the payload swing when compared to UGPC. Also both EGPC and CGPC are able to control the system without constraint violation. When comparing EGPC to CGPC, the first is able to calculate (during time step) the control action faster than the second. The simulations prove that the overall performance of EGPC is superior to the other used formulations.

Explicit GPC Control Applied to an Approximated Linearized Crane System

A robust Iterative Learning Control (ILC) design that uses state feedback and output injection for linear time-invariant systems is reintroduced. ILC is a control tool that is used to overcome periodic disturbances in repetitive systems acting on the system input. The design basically depends on the small gain theorem, which suggests isolating a modeled disturbance system and finding the overall transfer function around the delay model. This assures disturbance accommodation if stability conditions are achieved. The reported design has a lack in terms of the uncertainty issue. This study considered the robustness issue by investigating and setting conditions to improve the system performance in the ILC design against a system&#x2019;s unmodeled dynamics. The simulation results obtained for two different systems showed an improvement in the stability margin in the case of system perturbation.

Robust Conditions for Iterative Learning Control in State Feedback and Output Injection Paradigm

The overhead crane is required to operate fast and precisely with minimal sway. However, high-speed operations cause undesirable load sways, hazardous to operating personnel, the payload being handled, and the crane itself. Thus, a high-quality control is required. In this work, the nonlinear model of the overhead crane was established and the sliding mode control (SMC) was proposed that ensured the existence of sliding motion in the presence of payload and hoisting height variations, and viscous frictions. To maximize the benefits derived from the proposed control method, novel sliding slope-update based on intelligent neural-network and fuzzy algorithms were developed to tune the controller, guaranteeing precise tracking of the actuated variables as well as regulation of the unactuated variables. The proposed methods adjust predetermined value of the sliding manifold&#x2019;s slope in response to variations in hoisting heights. Control applications were conducted, and results based on graphical, integral absolute error (IAE), and integral time absolute error (ITAE) proved the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. It was observed that the response of the controller with back-propagation-trained neural-network was more effective relative to that of the fuzzy algorithm.
