Oral to Brain Delivery of Therapeutics Using Novel Drug Delivery Systems for Neurological Disorders and Cancer

Call for Papers

Oral delivery of pharmaceutical/nutraceuticals is most frequently preferred since ancient time due to patient compliance and easy administration. Numerous API, nutraceuticals, and excipients have been used for brain delivery. Blood brain barrier is the toughest barrier for the brain delivery of potential drug candidates. Low solubility, gastrointestinal degradation, and less permeability are the major challenges associated with oral delivery. Variety of strategies based on nanotechnology, chemical modifications, and targeted drug delivery have been used to deliver therapeutics in brain in more efficient way but none offer satisfactory delivery potentials. However, in today scenario, there is clear need to establish efficient technology to deliver therapeutics using novel drug delivery systems towards brain in higher amount. Clinical applications of drug delivery will open gate for newer molecule towards neurological disorders and brain.

This special call aim is to access new drug delivery technologies especially for brain. This kind of special issue has immense scope for current scientist working in this area. We are expecting newer drug delivery technologies based research for brain delivery from fundamental sciences also. This call also focuses on application of fundamental sciences to design these drug delivery technologies. We also welcome original research and review articles based on this call.

  • Nanocarriers development (lipid and polymeric based nanomaterials)
  • Novel drug delivery systems
  • Chemical modifications based approach
  • Water soluble carbon (fullerene/graphite/carbon nanotubes) based nanocarriers
  • Brain pharmacokinetic
  • Targeted brain delivery
  • Controlled release and their modeling
  • Caco-2 and SH-SY5Y cell lines based in vitro studies
  • Brain capillaries isolation and their role in nutrient transport in brain
  • Clinical applications of drug delivery by fundamental sciences
