Pancreatic Beta-Cell Purification by Altering FAD and NAD(P)H Metabolism

Changes in cellular FAD fluorescence. Beta-cell (black bars) and nonbeta-cell (dashed bars) FAD fluorescence were measured in response to (a) increasing concentrations of D-glucose and (b) amino acids. Fluorescence is represented as relative FAD fluorescence, compared to medium containing 553 mg/L amino acids and 5.5 mM D-Glucose. The graph represents four separate experiments, bars represent the mean ± SEM, and statistical significance was calculated using the Mann-Whitney test. -values <.05 were considered to be statistically significant and are represented by (∗).
