Redox imbalance leads to chronic wound development. (a) Wound closure in C57BL/6 mice treated with PBS occurs by 15 days after wounding. (b) C57BL/6 mice treated with inhibitors heal by 20 days after wounding. (c) Db/db mice treated with PBS heal completely by 30 days. (d) Db/db mice treated with inhibitors become chronic and do not heal for as long as 100 days. (e) Percent open wound area over time in wounds of C57BL/6 and db/db mice after treatment with PBS or IAE.
