A DM model was established by feeding rats a high-fat diet and injecting them with a low dose of STZ. After the model was established, PEP (150, 300, and 600 mg/kg) was administered intragastrically as an intervention for 28 d. Blood samples from angular vein were collected to quantitate the enzymatic activity of MDA (nmol/mL), SOD (U/mL), and GSH-Px (mol/L) in serum.
