Islet functionality. (a) ATP levels were measured after 24 hours of culture at the 150, 300, and 600IEQ/cm2 under normoxic (PO2 160 mmHg) and hypoxic (PO2 15 mmHg) conditions. (b) Insulin response to glucose stimulation was measured after 24 hours in culture using a stimulation index. Each density (150, 300, and 600IEQ/cm2) was evaluated under both normoxic (PO2 160 mmHg) and hypoxic (PO2 15 mmHg) conditions. compared to the control, compared to 150IEQ/cm2 under normoxia, and compared to 150IEQ/cm2 under hypoxia.
