Studies on the Antidiabetic and Antinephritic Activities of Paecilomyces hepiali Water Extract in Diet-Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Sprague Dawley Rats

Diet-STZ-induced diabetic rats were treated with or without 0.12 g/kg metformin (Met) and Paecilomyces hepiali water extract (PHC) at indicated doses for four weeks. The changes on body weight (a) and fasting plasma glucose level (b) were monitored during the whole drug administration period. After the final drug treatment, the serum levels of insulin (c) and glycosylated hemoglobin (d) were detected in all experimental rats. Data are expressed as mean ± SD () and analyzed by using one-way ANOVA. and versus normal controls, , , and versus nontreated diabetic rats.
