After Mif reconstitution, proinflammatory cytokine production in Mif−/− mice was increased.Mif reconstitution was initiated at the same time of STZ administration to Wt (■) or Mif−/− mice (▼) until 7 weeks after STZ treatment. The glucose levels (a) and the levels of the inflammatory cytokines IL-6 (b), TNF-a (c), and IL-12 (d) were measured. Control mice receiving vehicle injection did not display significant changes on cytokine production compared to week 0 (data do not shown).
