Lesogaberan enhances human islet cell proliferation in vitro. Human islets were treated in triplicate with, or without, the indicated dosages of lesogaberan in the presence (black bars) or absence (open bars) of saclofen (10⁻⁴ M) for 4 days. Data shown are the average rate of proliferation ± SEM relative to that of cultures with medium alone (designated as 1) using islets from two donors, each of which were studied in separate experiments. Treatment with saclofen alone did not affect the proliferation of human islet in our experimental system (data not shown). versus lesogaberan.
