The effect of Hp genotypes on the cholesterol efflux of oxidized HDL. Hb-Hp1-1 or Hb-Hp 2-2 complexes were incubated with the same HDL preparation in the presence of H2O2 (1 : 10 molar excess) for 1 hour. After incubation, the samples were added to macrophages and the efflux of (3H) cholesterol from macrophages was measured ( indicates the value < 0.001 (t-test) comparing Hb/Hp 1-1 versus Hb/Hp 2-2).
