The Association between Genomic DNA Methylation and Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Table 5

Genomic DNA methylation between the DPN and non-DPN groups in different subgroups.

Divided the population into subgroups according to the different levels of duration and BMI and then compared the difference of the level of genomic DNA methylation between the DPN and non-DPN groups in those subgroups. The level of genomic DNA methylation was lower in patients with DPN and diabetic duration more than 5 years (, compared with non-DPN, Mann-Whitney test) and was also significantly lower in patients with DPN and (, compared with non-DPN, Mann-Whitney test). The level of genomic DNA methylation in patients with DPN in the subgroups of had significant downward trend, but the difference was not significant (, compared with non-DPN, Mann-Whitney test).
