Sexual orientation
Sexual orientation encompasses three key concepts: sexual attraction, sexual behaviour, and sexual identity. The relationship between these components is that sexual orientation is generally based upon sexual attraction and that sexual attraction can result in various sexual behaviour and the adoption of sexual identities. The three key concepts are related, but not necessarily congruent variables, each of which can independently change over time and by social context.
