Description

With the development of new communication technologies, Internet of things technology, and microelectronic sensor technology, the development trend of intelligent wearable medical instruments is very rapid. Its ultimate goal is to perform interconnection and interworking between people and everything after digitization, provide exclusive and personalized services for everyone, and realize continuous auxiliary and enhanced services for people. It is an intelligent expansion and extension of relevant functions represented by human senses.

The intelligent wearable instruments focus especially on medical applications. With the technological breakthrough and the development of more microsensing devices that can be implanted into the human body, intelligent wearable instruments are bringing a round of great changes to the whole field of health care. The ideal wearable medical instrument can collect all kinds of vital sign data of users anytime and anywhere, and it can analyze and feed back these data to users. The powerful requirements and technology promotion have led to the rapid development of wearable devices, including flexible electronic materials and instruments, smart sensors for monitoring physiological parameters, intelligent medical instruments and robotics, data processing, and artificial intelligence technologies, etc.

This Special Issue invites original research and review articles focusing on advances and perspectives on intelligent wearable technology and its uses.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Flexible electronics for wearable medical instruments
  • Portable vital sign perception
  • Artificial intelligence and smart healthcare
  • New materials for wearable medical instruments
  • Wearable intelligent hardware and system
  • Wearable sensors
  • Artificial intelligence technology for smart health
  • Human-computer interaction technology
