Clinical Study

Immune Modulation in Primary Vaccinia virus Zoonotic Human Infections

Figure 5

CD28 molecule expression and evaluation of regulatory T CD8+ cells in PBMCs from individuals infected or not by zoonotic Vaccinia virus. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients infected or not with zoonotic Vaccinia virus were cultured in the presence of UV-inactivated virus or mock-treated (medium). After 72 hours of stimulus, cells were labeled with mouse anti-human CD8 antibodies and anti-human CD28 antibodies. The percentages of CD8+ CD28+ (a) and CD8+ CD28āˆ’ (b) T-cell subsets were determined by flow citometry. Statistical significance ( values), based on the median values of each group, is presented on the graphs.
