Induction of apoptosis by LPS and IL-12 in the mouse calvariae. Histological sections of calvariae excised from mice after daily supracalvarial injections of PBS, LPS alone (100 g/day), LPS with IL-12, or LPS alone (1.5 g/day) for 5 days were subjected to TUNEL staining to detect apoptotic cells. The lower panels show high-magnification images of the boxed areas in the upper panels. Apoptotic cells are indicated by arrows.
