Serum CEACAM1 Elevation Correlates with Melanoma Progression and Failure to Respond to Adoptive Cell Transfer Immunotherapy

sCEACAM1 sensitively reflects tumor excision and recurrence in mice. 20 SCID-NOD mice were subjected to subcutaneous injection of 009mel cells. When tumors reached ~500 mm3, they were excised from half of the mice in a complete ((a), ) or partial ((b)-(c), ) manner while the other mice underwent sham surgery ((d), ). In some of the mice recurrence of tumor occurred ((c), ). sCEACAM1 levels (depicted by a solid line) as well as tumors volumes (gray bars) were periodically measured and plotted against time.
