The Memories of NK Cells: Innate-Adaptive Immune Intrinsic Crosstalk

NK cell subsets. The majority of peripheral blood human NK cells belongs to the highly cytotoxic NK subset, while the “cytokine producers” NK cells are more abundant in secondary lymphoid tissues. Some differences in the receptor expression and response to stimuli are indicated; remarkably, the level of CD16 expression has functional consequences for the antibody-dependent cell cytotoxic (ADCC) mechanism.
