Effect of macrophage coculture on collagen and alpha-smooth muscle actin expression in human aortic adventitial fibroblasts. PDBu-differentiated THP-1 macrophages were left untreated (MΦ) or activated with IFN-γ+LPS or IL-4 for 72 hours in cell culture inserts. THP-1 macrophages were subsequently transferred to wells containing aortic adventitial fibroblasts, stimulated with 10 μM PDBu in the absence or presence of 1000 U/ml PEG-catalase, and incubated for 24 hours.
