Relaxed structures of a calcium silicate cluster on the surface of carbon nanotubes. Top and side views refer to (a) SWCNT-Nx and (b) SWCNT-Ox. In (b), the calcium atoms play an important role in the anchoring of the cluster with the surface of carbon nanotubes. From the transverse section of the SWCNT-Ox, it is possible to observe an oval section due to the presence of the calcium silicate cluster.
