Facile Method to Prepare Superhydrophobic and Water Repellent Cellulosic Paper

Figure 5

Photographs of water droplets placed on (a) modern blank, (b) modern printed, (c) old, and (d) Japanese papers, which were covered by siloxane-particle (2% w/v) films. A blue pigment (cobalt blue) was added in water droplets in (a) and (c). The shape of the droplets is almost spherical indicating the superhydrophobic character of the surfaces of the siloxane-particle films. Furthermore, the photographs demonstrate the transparency of the siloxane-particle films.
