Supplementary Material

For the first figure, it is the TEM image of as-synthesized gold (Au) seeds. It is evident that the Au seed size is in the range 1–5 nm.

For the second figure, it is the optical absorption spectra of all samples being scaned from 200 nm to 1100 nm. There is only one type of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of Au NPs which are present in the range of 520–535 nm. It is the transverse SPR. No any longitudinal SPR is observed in the range of 600–800 nm.
