Hierarchical cell-based screening system for nanoparticle safety testing. The screening system is divided in prescreening, fine-screening, and complex-screening and allows examining of a variety of nanoparticles during nanoproduct development. Prescreening is performed with all nanomaterials whereas complex cell systems are only applied to selected nanomaterials.
