Plasma Treated Active Carbon for Capacitive Deionization of Saline Water

Raman shift of the untreated and plasma treated active carbon. Plasma power used was 50 W, 75 W, and 100 W. The G peak at 1598 cm−1 shows the highly ordered sp2 C structure and its full width at half maximum (FWHM(G)) indicates the level of sp2 C disorder. The FWHM(G) increased from 65.5 cm−1 for the untreated active carbon to 73.8 cm−1 for the 75 W treated. The FWHM(G) did not change much when the carbon was treated at 50 W and 100 W.
