(a) Effect of folate-rhodamine-conjugated nanoparticles on the HeLa cells viability. Cells incubated with different nanoparticle concentrations for 24 h at 37°C followed by crystal violet staining. No significant reduction () in cellular viability was observed, the survival rate being higher than 80%, even at the highest nanoparticle concentration. The black arrows show the internalization of the system, which is visible even at low concentrations (0.065 mg mL−1).
