MTT assay was employed to detect the toxicity of magnetic NPs at different concentrations. After PEG-MZF-NPs were cocultured with L929 cells, the cell proliferation rates of negative control group were all 100% or so, and the cytotoxicity was grade 0, suggesting no cytotoxicity. The magnetic NP group with concentrations ranging from 40 g/mL to 80 g/mL had grade 1 cytotoxicity. In comparison, the cell proliferation rate in the positive control group was 39% and the cytotoxicity was grade 5.
