Nanomaterials for Green Science and Environmental Applications

Description

Recently, a wide range of new functional nanomaterials have been developed toward advancements in energy and environmental related issues. The motivation of the themed issue on “emerging functional nanomaterials for green energy and environmental applications” is to focus on the timely and emerging research activities on the synthesis, structural manipulation, characterization, surface modification, processing and integration of functional nanomaterials into energy devices (solar cells, fuel cells, supercapacitors, lithium ion batteries, hydrogen storage systems and thermoelectric, etc.), renewable energy, and environmental remediation systems (detection and remediation of different contaminants /pollutants, catalysts for noxious and toxic gases, sensor electrodes, immobilization matrices and selective gas sensing probes, waste/biomass to energy, etc.). This special issue will provide the basis for in-depth exchange of research ideas among the researchers, engineers, and scientists, in the domain of interest around the world and design research activities for the future. We cordially invite the prospective authors to submit original full-length research and review articles with an emphasis on the recent development of new functional nanomaterials toward energy and environmental applications.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Synthesis of nanostructured organic/inorganic hybrid functional materials for green energy and environmental applications
  • Exploitation of composition, morphology, and microstructure of functional nanostructured materials in the following:
    • Fuel cell membranes and electrodes
    • Photovoltaic/optoelectronic devices
    • Supercapacitors and lithium ion batteries
    • Degradation of organic pollutants/pesticides
    • Water treatment
    • Detection/removal of heavy metal ions and hazardous pollutants
    • Recovery of rare earth metals from environmental resources
    • Separation and filtration
    • Air pollution control technology
    • Waste/biomass conversion to energy
