Description

Antimicrobial nanomaterials are a cross-disciplinary topic, not just within physics, materials science, and chemistry but also healthcare, biomedical, biological, environmental, and food sciences.

Despite our increasing understanding of its threat and causes, antibiotic resistance remains one of the biggest threats to human health. Some nanomaterials or nano-scaled materials have shown different levels of antimicrobial effects. Considerable efforts are urgently needed to develop better antimicrobial nanomaterials that can eradicate antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

This Special Issue aims to publish original and high-quality research and review articles in the broad areas of the chemistry of interfaces and of nanostructures. Contributions dealing with nanomaterials (organic, inorganic, and hybrid) are expected to focus not only on the synthesis and fabrication of nanomaterials but also on their properties and applications. We welcome papers from all disciplines where antimicrobial nanomaterials are of interest, with emphasis on the emerging bulk with nanostructures and antimicrobial mechanisms.
