Nanostructured Bioceramics
Description
There has been a major advancement in the development and innovation of bioceramic materials for hard tissue repair during the past three decades. Bioactive and bioresorbable ceramics, and in particular calcium phosphates, are used in various applications throughout the human body. Nanostructured calcium phosphates have recently gained much attention due to their enhanced bioactivity, thereby encouraging a rapid bone healing process, and thus resulting in an early implant fixation.
We invite researchers to contribute original research articles and review articles, which will stimulate the continuing efforts in advancing bone implant science. All contributions should deal with research that has either direct or potential impact on human health. We are particularly interested in articles focusing on fundamental laboratory research to clinical practice, and publish all aspects of ceramics in medicine. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Bioactive/Bioresorbable/Substituted nanostructured ceramics and its processing
- Bio-nanocomposites and its processing
- Bone cements
- Drug delivery systems
- Nanocoatings/Thin films for hard tissue applications
- Tissue engineering scaffolds for hard tissue applications
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jnm/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/jnm/nabi/ according to the following timetable:
