Application of Nanomaterials in Bioengineering
Description
A multidisciplinary approach in nanotechnology, bioengineering, and microbial sciences is able to offer innovative and advanced tools to tackle different challenges in the field of biomedical research. The application of nanostructured systems in the biomedical field has encouraged the development of advanced biomaterials with customized properties. The overall aim is to develop and define novel strategies for specific problems related to healthcare and wellbeing.
The purpose of this special issue is to highlight the most recent advances in the development of nanomaterials for bioengineering, with special attention to novel nanoantimicrobials for a reduction in or the prevention of infections, new nanostructured drug delivery systems, and their interaction with cells, tissues, and living systems. Research articles and reviews on these specific topics will be evaluated for novelty, innovation, and the multidisciplinary approach of the investigation.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Nanoantimicrobials for prevention of infections
- Development of new drug delivery systems
- Development of advanced medical devices
- Nanomaterials in tissue engineering
- Biomedical applications of nanomaterials
