Supplementary Material

(Zn, Al)-LDH nanoparticles intercalated with carbonate (Zn, Al, CO3) or chloride (Zn, Al, Cl) or nitrate (Zn, Al, NO3) anions were used as the controls to study the effect of nanoparticles without the drug on the cancer cells. These particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and bright field transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Data for the XRD pattern and TEM micrographs for the control particles are shown as supplementary material in figure S1.
